The Directorate of Capacity Development and Consultancy Services (KU-CDCS) partnered with the School of Business, Economics and Tourism (Kenyatta University), International Committee for Development of Peoples (CISP), Cooperation Development Network (CDN), University of Pavia in Italy and the State Department for Planning in the National Treasury and Economic Planning (Kenya) among other actors to develop and implement a skills training curricula on Project Design, and Project Monitoring and Evaluation. The training on Project Design was conducted from November 28 to December 2, 2022 while the short course on Project Monitoring and Evaluation was implemented from December 5-9, 2022. The short courses targeted staff of government, civil society organizations and development partners. It aimed at equipping the participants with the knowledge, skills and competencies for planning, designing, appraising, monitoring and evaluating development projects and programmes at national and county levels. A total of 50 Economists drawn from the State Department for Planning in the National Treasury and Planning benefitted from the two courses.

Besides offering targeted skills training, the KU-CDCS has continued to engage with state and non-state actors in providing action-oriented consultancy services. Some of the active consultancy assignments being undertaken include provision of skills and employability training for youth under the Kenya Youth Empowerment Project (KYEOP), and Development of Criteria for Identification and Cataloguing of Water Towers in Kenya.
