Secretary/Receptionist
Alice Wangondu is a diligent and enthusiastic professional with 17+ years experience in Front Office Operations. She possesses exceptional Customer Care and Public Relations skills making visitors feel at home away from home. Alice joined Kenyatta University in January 2008 and was posted at the Centre for Capacity Development in Higher Education which later went through a rebranding process to form International Centre for Capacity Development (ICCD). Alice is part of the pioneers who steered ICCD to an enormous growth until August 2018 when the University restructured Directorates, Centres and Units. In the process, ICCD was merged with KU- Consultancy Services Unit to form a new Directorate of Capacity Development and Consultancy Services (CDCS). Ms Wangondu was redeployed to CDCS in the same role of Secretary/Receptionist. Alice has worked with five (5) Directors in Kenyatta University which has given her a wealth of experience in Secretarial and Office Management.
Prior to joining Kenyatta University, Alice served in similar positions in a Communication Firm, Computer College and Real Estate Company. In addition, Alice worked in Safaricom Limited as a Billing Clerk from June 2006 to October 2007 where her main role was to countercheck and assemble invoices and statements for postpaid customers for preparation of dispatch.
While acting as the first point of contact in person and on the telephone, Ms Wangondu employs her naturally friendly and helpful persona and goes an extra mile to assist all Customers and Colleagues in order to make the workplace run smoothly and harmoniously at all times.
Alice Wangondu’s core responsibilities at CDCS include but not limited to:
- Managing the Front Office; welcoming Guests and directing them to the relevant personnel
- Attending to all incoming phone calls and routing them to the relevant officer
- In charge of all incoming and outgoing correspondences, filtering and dispatch
- Managing the Director’s Diary
- Offering assistance to the Directorate’s staff in accounting of imprests.
- Managing the Directorate’s Filing System in accordance with ISO Standards to ensure efficiency
- Reception organization and Hospitality
- Other clerical duties; photocopying, binding and preparation of training materials
